Abstract

This study was conducted to determine whether Digital storytelling has a significant impact on students' speaking abilities. In this study, the researchers used two-group quasi-experimental research. The population of the research was Grade 11 HUMSS students of one of the schools in the East District of Pagadian City Division. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, with 58 students serving as the research participants: twenty-nine (29) students considered an experimental group employing digital storytelling, and another twenty-nine (29) students considered a controlled group that made use of traditional storytelling. The researchers used an analytic rubric as an instrument, which included pre-test and post-test. The results showed that those using digital storytelling were more effective than those using traditional storytelling, with a mean difference of -2.276. Hence, educators may use digital storytelling as a tool to increase their repertoire of instructional techniques to engage and entertain students while improving their speaking abilities.
